Résumé/Summary

This course provides participants with advanced theoretical knowledge of core modern air traffic management concepts (ATFCM, ASM, A-CDM, UTM, and 4D Trajectories), enabling them to optimize airspace and traffic management within their respective national organizations.

Objectifs de la formation

  • Explain the systems Europe implemented to optimize the management of the air traffic;
  • Describe the future exploration tracks regarding flight path modelling and integration of on board equipment in the management of the air traffic

Prérequis

None

Description

  1. ATFCM (Air Traffic Flow and Capacity Management)
Fundamentals & Principles: Demand-capacity balancing mechanisms and prevention of airspace overloads.
European & National Architecture: Role of the Network Manager Operations Centre (NMOC) at the European level and implementation at the national level.
Operational Phases: Comprehensive breakdown across strategic, pre-tactical, tactical and postops phases.
Roles & Operational Tools: Functions of Flow Management Positions (FMP) and supervisors; practical overview of operational systems (e.g., SALTO, e-CHMI).
  2. ASM (Airspace Management)
Airspace Design: Core principles of ASD, Flexible Use of Airspace (FUA), and Free Route Airspace (FRA).
Capacity Optimization: Civil-military coordination processes to maximize airspace availability and route efficiency.
  3. A-CDM (Airport Collaborative Decision Making)
Airport Integration: Real-time data sharing between airlines, airport operators, ground handlers, and air traffic control.
Tactical Optimization Tools: Synergy with arrival, departure, and extended departure managers (DMAN, AMAN, X-MAN, etc.).
  4. UTM (Unmanned Aircraft System Traffic Management)
Integration of New Entrants: Frameworks and system architectures for the safe integration of drones and uncrewed aircraft into low-altitude airspace.
UTM Services & Regulation: Interoperability challenges and coexistence with conventional commercial traffic (ATM).
  5. 4D Trajectories
Trajectory-Based Operations (TBO): Utilization of 3D spatial positioning enhanced with precise time constraints for enhanced navigation accuracy.
Efficiency & Impact Reduction: Improved flight predictability, trajectory optimization, and reduced fuel consumption. [GB]
