Advanced navigation systems – GNSS for Civil Aviation

Objectives

After completing this module, you will be able to :

  • Describe and explain how satellite navigation augmented with current and next generation of satellite augmentation systems (ABAS, GBAS and SBAS) may be used for commercial aircraft navigation,

  • Describe the GNSS signals integrity monitoring functions brought by those augmentations : mechanism and performance assessment (Protection Level computation),

  • Assess GNSS augmented systems performance with respect to the ICAO's Signal in Space requirements,

  • Describe the GNSS airborne architecture.
